The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids
A bedtime story for sweet dreams
Once upon a time, in a peaceful clearing deep in the forest, there lived a mother goat and her seven playful little kids. They had a cozy little house made of wood and dry leaves, with colorful flowers in the windows and the smell of fresh cake always in the air.
Mama Goat loved her little ones dearly and took great care of them. One day, she needed to go to the market to buy groceries and left a very important warning:
“My darlings, take care of the house and don’t open the door for anyone—especially not the wolf from the forest! He’s very tricky and can disguise his voice... but he can’t hide his black, furry paws.”
“Yes, Mama!” the little kids chimed in, cheerful and alert.
As soon as she left, the kids began to play, sing, and run around the room. But they didn’t realize that the wolf was already nearby, hiding behind a tree and listening carefully.
The wolf knocked on the door and said in a sweet voice:
“Open up, my dears! It’s your mama, and I brought treats from the market!”
But the kids were clever:
“You’re not our mama! Her voice is soft, and her paws don’t stomp like that!”
Frustrated, the wolf ran off to buy some honey to smooth his voice and flour to cover his dark paws. He came back, knocked again, and spoke even more gently:
“Open the door, my little ones. It’s me, your dear mama!”
This time, the kids almost fell for it. But the youngest peeked under the door and shouted:
“Those paws are still black! You’re not our mama!”
The wolf growled in frustration but didn’t give up. He covered his paws completely with flour, practiced his voice one more time, and came back a third time. Now, he truly sounded — and looked — like their mother.
The kids listened, peeked under the door, and saw white paws. Thinking it was really their mom, they opened the door.
Oh no — it was the wolf!
The little kids scattered in panic. One hid behind the sofa, another in the cupboard, another in the toy chest. But the wolf was fast... he found them all — except one!
The clever youngest had hidden inside the old wall clock. After the wolf left, full and tired, the brave little kid climbed out and ran to find Mama Goat.
She rushed home from the market, heart pounding. The little one told her everything. Together, they went to find the wolf, who was snoring loudly under a tree, belly full.
Very gently, Mama Goat opened the sleeping wolf’s belly. One by one, the kids popped out, safe and sound — stretching and yawning as if they'd just woken up from a nap!
Then they filled the wolf’s belly with heavy stones and stitched it back up. When the wolf finally woke and tried to run... he stumbled, tumbled down a hill, and was never seen again!
From that day on, the little kids never opened the door for strangers, and Mama Goat always came back with hugs, kisses, and stories to tell.
And they lived safely and happily ever after — at home, outdoors, and always with love, courage, and wisdom. 🏡✨
