The Tortoise and the Hare
Bedtime Story for Little Dreamers
Once upon a time, in a sunny clearing deep in the forest, there lived a very fast hare. She loved to run here and there, hopping like lightning and boasting to all the animals:
— No one is faster than me! — said the hare proudly.
The other animals just chuckled, until one day, a calm voice replied:
— I’m not fast... but I’d like to challenge you to a race.
It was the tortoise! Everyone gasped. How could a slow and steady tortoise dare to challenge the speedy hare?
The hare burst into laughter.
— You? Beat me in a race? This is going to be fun!
But the tortoise only smiled calmly.
On the day of the race, all the forest animals gathered to watch. The monkey acted as the referee and shouted:
— Ready, set... go!
The hare dashed off like the wind. She was so fast, she disappeared in seconds. The tortoise, meanwhile, began to walk slowly. Step by step. Calm and focused.
Looking back, the hare saw that the tortoise had barely moved.
— I’ve got plenty of time, — she said. — I think I’ll take a little nap.
And so, she curled up under a tree and fell fast asleep.
Meanwhile, the tortoise kept going. One step... then another... and another... never stopping.
Time passed, and the tortoise slowly walked past the sleeping hare and continued on.
When the hare finally woke up, the sun was setting.
— Oh no! The race! — she shouted, racing toward the finish line.
But it was too late. When she got there, the tortoise was already waiting — smiling and surrounded by clapping forest friends.
The hare was shocked, but then she smiled and said:
— Congratulations, Tortoise! You won with effort and courage.
And everyone learned that being fast isn’t everything — what matters most is determination, patience, and never giving up.
And they all lived happily ever after, running, walking, and learning together in the enchanted forest.
