Rapunzel
A magical bedtime story full of courage, light, and love
Once upon a time, in a distant and peaceful kingdom, the queen fell gravely ill during her pregnancy. In desperation, the royal servants searched far and wide until they found a magical flower, born from a drop of sunlight. With it, they made an elixir that healed the queen and gave the baby magical healing powers — stored in her long golden hair.
But a wicked old witch named Gothel, who had used that flower for centuries to stay young, discovered that her source of youth now lived within the child. Full of envy, she kidnapped the baby princess, Rapunzel, and hid her in a tall tower deep in the forest, raising her as her own daughter.
To keep Rapunzel under control, Gothel lied, saying the outside world was dangerous and that no one would ever love her like “Mother Gothel” did.
Despite the isolation, Rapunzel grew up full of curiosity and wonder. Every year on her birthday, she watched from her tower window as floating lights filled the sky — not knowing they were lanterns released by her true parents, hoping their daughter would one day return.
On her eighteenth birthday, Rapunzel gathered the courage to ask "Mother Gothel" to take her to see the lights. Gothel refused harshly, insisting she must never leave the tower.
Disheartened, Rapunzel gave up — until fate stepped in. A young thief named Jose climbed the tower, hiding from guards after stealing a royal crown. Rapunzel, startled but clever, knocked him out with a frying pan and hid the crown. She made a deal: if he took her to see the lights, she would return the treasure.
To buy time, Rapunzel asked Gothel for a rare seashell-based paint, which would take days to find. Meanwhile, she and Jose set off on an unexpected journey.
On the road, they faced danger, adventure, and even met a group of rough-looking men with artistic dreams. As they traveled, Rapunzel and Jose slowly became friends. Jose, once selfish and sly, began to change — touched by Rapunzel’s kindness and bravery.
Meanwhile, Gothel noticed Rapunzel’s absence and hatched a dark plan. She tricked Jose into being captured and made Rapunzel believe he had betrayed her for the crown. Heartbroken, Rapunzel returned to the tower, thinking her dream was lost.
But something changed inside her. She noticed the royal crest on a flag and began to remember fragments of her past. Then the truth hit her: she was the lost princess!
Furious and determined, Rapunzel stood up to Gothel and refused to be her prisoner any longer. Just then, Jose returned to rescue her — but was gravely wounded by Gothel.
Desperate, Rapunzel offered to stay with Gothel forever if she could heal Jose. Gothel agreed, but before she could use her magic hair, Jose cut it off — destroying the enchantment and breaking Gothel’s power.
Without magic, Gothel aged rapidly, stumbled, and vanished into dust. Jose died in Rapunzel’s arms... but as her tears fell on him, filled with love, one of them glowed — and brought him back to life.
Rapunzel finally returned to the kingdom and was reunited with her parents. The entire land rejoiced for the princess’s return.
Free at last, Rapunzel chose to live a life of discovery and purpose. She and Jose remained together, traveling far and wide — not just chasing dreams, but building new ones.
They married and lived happily, freely, and lovingly ever after.
